The Internet has brought forth a lot of innovation for retail. Among the activities that the Internet has been good for is shopping. The Internet helps people find what they are looking for so that they can buy the right items. However, search engines on rely on keywords and they have limits as to what they can bring forth. There are items that are nearly impossible to find if the person doesn’t know the exact keywords or description to use. Even then, it could be nearly impossible to find the item. This is where visual search comes in. Visual search makes it easier for people to find the items they are looking for.

One visual search software that is very helpful is called Slyce. Slyce is heavily involved with retail stores. It can be downloaded to the smartphone. How it works is that the user can snap a picture of an item and Slyce will show information about the product including the model, type, the stores that sell it, and plenty of other pieces of information. This saves people a lot of the frustration of searching for the item. It also helps retail stores make money because not only will customers more easily find the item that they are looking for, but they will also find similar and even better products.

It is often said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Often times, the thing that gets people to buy a product is not the words describing the item, it is the images of the products or seeing the product in action. When people see how the image works, not only will they get a better idea of how it works, but they will also be more interested in buying the product. This is one of the reasons that visual search technology is making a huge difference in the retail industry.
