May 8th, 2017

Physicians are beginning to connect the effects of sleep apnea with other serious conditions like stroke. Many physicians are calling for an extensive research on sleep disorder and seek to understand the connection between sleep apnea and cardiovascular disease or diabetes.

One such physician is Avi Weisfogel. Trained as a dentist, Dr. Avi has recently delved in research to try and treat patients with the sleep disorder. He had spent fifteen years working as a dentist and did a part-time study on sleep disorder.

Dr. Avi Weisfogel realized that the field was not exploited to the maximum. He started by establishing Healthy Heart Sleep in 2010. His company was responsible for advising physicians around the world on how to effectively manage and create sleep labs.

In 2012, he took a step further by forming Owner Unlimited Sleep Patient, which was responsible for lecturing dentists on how they can serve sleep patients. The lectures also involved the common symptoms exhibited by patients with sleep apnea. Through the lectures, dentists were taught on how to identify ideal candidates for sleep labs.

He also believed that patients with sleep disorder could be helped by the use of oral appliances. This led him to establish Dental Sleep Masters. The company has achieved success in spreading awareness of sleep apnea. According to Dr. Avi Weisfogel, many people suffering from the sleep disorder, mistake it for another condition and end up receiving wrong medication.

According to him, he believes that over 90 percent of people with sleep disorder are not diagnosed, hence increasing the chances of the condition becoming fatal. He believes that technological innovations may be the answer to sleep apnea.

Avi Weisfogel attended the Rutgers University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He attended the University of New York, College of Dentistry where he earned his DDA.
